Welcome. Always ask away and some one here will have "been there and done that" also. Many times mitomycin is used after a second TURB when pathology indicates a high grade tumor from the 1st TURB. Primarily it is a wash to kill off any re-seeding cells and also kill anything else around the TURB site. I had it done after my second TURB also. I had zero side effects but, everyone is different. BCG is a wonderful drug and the majority of us have good success with it. While not completely without side effects it sure beats the chemo so many have to endure with other cancers. You are on your way to beating this!
DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.
I am diagnosed as of feb 15 with high grade CIS. My tumor was found incidentally while having a sub urethra sling placed. The surgeon did TURBT while I was on table on Jan 24. However the small 1 mm tumor got squashed up. So I had the second TURBT done by a cancer urologist. He said it did not invade but the cells from the first TURBT indicated high grade. He did intravesicular chemo with mitomycin C and said I will start BCG in 5 weeks.
Has anyone else had the mitomycin? Did you have side effects?
