Steve,

The usual sequence would be a look with the cystoscope, then based on observation scheduling for a TURBT - Trans Urethral Resection of Tumor (removal of the observed tumors), send removed tissue to the pathologist, then wait for a pathologist to report on the grade and stage of the material. What then follows will be based on the pathology report.

There may be a second TURBT after a few weeks OR you may be offered treatment choices, OR you may be told to come back in 3 months or so for a re-inspection OR you may be told that the tumor shown on CT is benign and sent away (with need to return for followup after a bit.

The BIG event is the pathology report. It tells you what is going on.

You are the entry point, were we all have been. Tings will happen slower than you would like, so try to take it in stride. IF it is bladder cancer, when caught early it is highly treatable.

Below is a website with good background info on the range of possibilities for treating and about bladder cancer - which which you have not yet been diagnosed.

A cytoscopic exam has already been ordered for mid December. What should I expect next?
