Hello
And I'm sorry to see you here. But welcome to the club.
I had an ultrasound first and then, before anything else, I was sent to a urologist who walked into the small exam room with this opening line, "So.... you have cancer!"
I guess they don't sit you down and break it to you slowly anymore.
But, as they watch the cystoscope video, they can tell by the shape of the tumor if it is cancer or not. So it is usually a good guess on their part.
After the TURB confirms this, and they remove the tumor, they will do another TURB to see if there are anyremaining cancer cells in the tissue.
And then you will be put on a course of recovery. Hopefully you will be able to have BCG treatments that will save you from major bladder removal surgery.
But even if you have to go the removal route, you will still be OK. I had mine taken out seven years ago and I'm still here, and living fine.
Best of luck to you
George
