My 83-year old father has been referred to a urologist for cystoscopy next week. His primary care doc says he has a tumor, but my dad has not asked for the specifics of the lab report. However, I'm going with the assumption that it is malignant.
I have been doing research and have come across some information that suggests that irritative symptoms - urgency, frequency, etc - are more strongly associated with more invasive forms of BC. I haven't been able to find much on this, however, so I don't know what "more strongly associated" means quantitatively. In other words, if a person has irritative symptoms, as my dad does (he has only had 2 occurrences of hematuria in the month that he has been having symptoms), what is the increased risk of him having more aggressive disease?
If anyone has more specific information on this, I would be grateful. As you might imagine, I'm extremely worried.
Thank you!
