I am so pleased to hear your news! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel though. Last year my Dr. said I could go on Yearly checkups. I asked to stay at 6 months for another year and he said yes.
But this August (6 year) he put me on annual checkups and I agreed. But I still feel weird, as if I was doing a high wire act with no net!

I haven't had a CAT scan in years (I did have a neo bladder, does that make any diff?)but I have had many chest xrays. He also wanted to reduce the radiation by having me on a yearly schedule.

So
Now we are on the outside of the chart for cancer survival. They always use 5 years as the end of statistics for survival. Maybe we will have to "move the goal line" for survivors that "just go on living"

Thanks for giving us the GREAT NEWS !
Congratulations again!

FABULOUS news, Catherine!!!

Of course, I had a different kind of cancer than you, but I only get a CT scan every five years now that I am 6 years out!

I felt the same as you when we went to yearly cystos. But I can live with that!

CONGRATULATIONS!

I went for my now annual cysto and CT scan at Vanderbilt last week and all is good. I was waiting for the radiologist to post my final report before reporting my results in the forum. The doctor said that if next year's scan is good, he thinks just doing the annual cysto/cytology is enough. That would be well into my sixth year after surgery. He said he 'didn't want to keep radiating all my other parts.'

I was happy to hear that but in a way it makes me a bit nervous to let go of that security blanket while at the same time it makes me nervous to get all that accumulated radiation. I have turned into a chronic worrier!

For those of you on six-month or annual surveillance now, do you still get CT scans and if so how often?

Anyway... needless to say, I am ecstatic with my results! :woohoo:

Best wishes... Catherine
