Alan,

From another Alan (guess we spell it correctly). The only diagnosis that we differed in is my tumor was tiny. .5 CM. Sounds like you are off to s good start at beating this! Keep posting and someone have some tips/advice.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I know that you would like an "ALL CLEAR" but this is the next best thing.
The protocol you are following is as expected from a top notch Dr.

Besides, Who can fault anyone from the University of Michigan

Light a man a fire and he is warm for an evening.
Light a man ON fire and he's warm forever.

Thank you as this basically beats the alternative.
I am confident with the doctors at the VA and doctors from the University of Michigan

Hello Alan... You have a good attitude going into this. It sounds like your doctor has a good plan to actively monitor and treat your bc. The repeated cycles of BCG is to stay ahead of any recurrence since your report came back high grade. The Ta is better news since that indicates your tumor was not invasive.

Even though it probably wasn't what you wanted to hear, I would think it makes you feel somewhat better to know exactly what you are dealing with now and that you now have a solid course of treatment. The second TURBT is really to verify the results of the first one and look for any new developments. That is also a sign that your uro is following recommended guidelines for treating you and that is a good thing.

I hope all goes well with your first round of BCG and please keep us posted on how you are doing along the way.

Best wishes... Catherine
