"Support Group" I remember telling everyone that I won't need any support group I will get through this on my own.

Boy how wrong I was, and how happy I was the day I found this site. Sometimes we all need a little help. Even if its just a sympathetic ear. I am the "Original Tough Guy" but when it finally soaked in that I had cancer, I sat down and bawled like a child in my wife's arms. Even as wonderful of a person as she is, she alone could not help me through this.

We are both grateful, and humbled, by the help, and kindness of everyone on this site.

Scot,

Welcome to the site, but sorry that you needed to find the site. It looks like you've received good support from others on the site.

I wanted to share the story of my wife Cynthia's experience with her first urologist. When she was diagnosed with muscle invasive bladder cancer in August, 2004, the urologist called me from the OR.

He told me that he couldn't be sure until the test results were returned, but it looked like she had muscle invasive bladder cancer. He then left for summer vacation.

I had to tell Cynthia what the urologist told me as she was recovering from the procedure. When he did return from vacation, we did meet with him, but we had already made the decision to seek treatment at another hospital.

Please keep us posted following your appointment with Dr. Lamm.

Believe me.... you do NOT want a group hug right now! I've been out pulling lots of weeds, mulching, and raking in near 95% humidity.

Just taking an ice water break! Back to work! Yucky (me and mulching!)

Best wishes... Catherine

No no! I did not take it as criticsm at all. Your words are wise and profound. I know better than to be angry. I am never angry...until now. Maybe it is best I had this experience so I have an outlet for all of my anger. Without this experience, I doubt I would have found this forum and Dr. Lamm. Maybe this is the Karma thing I have heard people speak of B)

Scot... please do not take my comment about being angry as a criticism. I was coming from my own personal perspective of how becoming angry and stressed affects me. It generally causes my fibromyalgia to flare up which has very negative results on my body. I've had to learn to "let it go" or else.

On the other hand, anger can be a great motivator. I'm just glad you are seeing a renowned bladder cancer specialist!

Best wishes... Catherine
