It says WHO "High-Grade" 2 of 3?
"The World Health Organization classifies bladder cancers as low grade (grade 1 and 2) or high grade (grade 3)." (from eMedicine).
You need to call your doctor and let them know you want him to call with the pathology results and to explain them to you.
In the mean time, it says negative for invasion of lamina propia. That's a good thing. It means that the cancer is contained to innermost layer of the bladder mucosa.
It also says negative for muscularis propia (muscle) "in the biopsy material". That means there was no muscle in the biopsy sample for them to analyze. However, if it was not in the layer that comes before the muscle, it shouldn't be in the muscle.
The doctor should be able to tell you more on grade or maybe someone else here. Usually grade 1 is low, grade 3 is high and grade 2 is 'in the middle'. According the quote I got from emedicine, WHO considers a 2 to be low grade also so I don't understand why is says High Grade (Grade 2 of 3). Unless they started some new thing of breaking high grade into three levels, which I've never heard of.
Busy doctor or not, you want to know the answer to your question. Call up his answering service and tell them you are freaking out over your pathology report and don't understand what it means and you need a call back asap. Or...just wait till Monday and call his office.
Getting the 2nd TURBT is the right thing to do so he's doing the right thing in that regard.
