Mike... That is just too cute! I will definitely have to get the movie to watch. Funny that my dog's name is Simba, named by his breeder after the movie. Here's MY Simba:

Welcome, Catherine!! Glad you found us at last. Now you know lots of people with bladder cancer :) Like you, I had never even thought about my bladder, let alone think that something could go wrong. And the worry does sort of recede into the background...never goes away, however.

My feeling about "stuff" that might/or might not cause bladder cancer is that if we need to stop using/eating them the time would have been about 20 years BEFORE our diagnosis when the cells and their DNA were being affected. What we do now is sort of after-the-fact. Which is not to say that we shouldn't have healthy habits...better late than never!!

Catherine.....throw those statistics out the window. Those stats take into account every shall we say "not as competent" uro's than those uro/specialists from major cancer centers or university centers that actually deal with bladder cancer on a daily basis. Many people will not or cannot travel to the best and the skill of the surgeon will assure you a much better statistic.
Have a great lunch!

Hello George... I'm to the point where my little black cloud isn't there every morning which is progress. For the first few months, I woke up every morning with the word "cancer" the first thought in my head as soon as I opened my eyes. Now not so much, but it always feels like it's nearby. I will take your advice and swat it away like an annoying fly when I feel it hovering over me.

Thanks for chiming in with your cheery response. I feel better and more positive already just seeing the inspirational stories of so many people here. I don't know anyone else with bladder cancer so now I feel like I'm in very good company with people who understand the fear and worry it can bring into your life.

As a matter of fact, no one in my very large immediate family has ever had cancer of any kind which is why we were all shocked at my diagnosis. I have always been viewed as the healthiest one in the family, but it just goes to show, the future is full of surprises and there are no guarantees. Each day is a gift to all of us, cancer or not, and I have learned to remember that always.

Best wishes... Catherine

Nice to meet you and hear your success story. That black cloud is something that can hang around and must be swatted away every morning. That is why we are here!

We cheer every success and we push everyone to find the BEST Dr. for kicking the crud out of this disease.

Two years out of RC surgery.... Back to abnormal!

Cheers to you!
