I need to correct my earlier comment about the NP really being an MA.
Even MAs know better. My daughter is an MA and I sent her your post about the NP. Here is her response:
Holy crap! That is so completely unprofessional and she needs to file a complaint with the doctor. That NP should not be allowed to practice, or exist in a population that requires some humanity. If I were this patient I think I probably would have given her a piece of my mind and finished it off with a knuckle sandwich to the face!! I can't believe people like that are allowed to practice medicine.
No, she wouldn't have really done the 'knuckle sandwich'.
I do have to admit that my daughter was top of her class in MA school and we've had enough medical issues in our family (not me--until bladder cancer) that it is hard not to get a pretty thorough medical education around us.
Hey just a thought..ask her if she does do windows and floors...i could really use her. She's obviously not qualified to do the job she's being paid to do. Where do i apply?
Kimberly all slides, paperwork, scans, whatever done at the hospital are yours. You need only sign for them. If you want your slides sent somewhere else for confirmation which is always a good idea just log onto the Johns Hopkins site and they'll guide you through it
I would join in with the comment that this wasn't a very professional NP! AND I would also join in with the thought that you shouldn't subject yourself to her again.
My experience with a Nurse practicioner was MUCH more favorable; she is the one (not my primary care doc) who told me that if I had more than three UTI's in a year I needed to get to a urologist ASAP. And she sent me to an excellent one and we caught my blc early.

WOW!!!! I like your sense of humor about it! Not only do I agree with you, I would go out a big limb to say that NP was an idiot. Ever meet one of those secretaries that doesn't know how to type or use the computer? Jeez!!!!
DEFINATELY you do not want to see her again. What's the point. She doesn't know about slides and thinks numbers dont' matter??? Numbers determine the treatment path.
I think my response to "numbers don't really matter" would have been "do they matter on your paycheck?". I bet they do!
PS: My wife is an LPN and SHE knows about slides for 2nd opinions. This NP you met does not sound like NP. Sure she wasn't a MA (Medical Assistant)? Yikes...
