My test results

12 years 1 month ago #22914 by dhqdizz
Im on Ciprofloxacin for the UTI.
When i was pregnant with my daughter i had them every 3 weeks from the beggining and then one landed me in the ER going into preterm labor at 23 weeks, so they put me on an antibiotic for the rest of my pregnancy to keep them away.
I started having them again when my daughter was 5 months old i believe...and having them every month or so now.
Luckily i can tell right away when I'm getting one that i don't have to deal with the burning sensation when i pee.
I get back pains and some urgency and that's when i know. They checked for kidney stones and i don't have any.

Yeah being in a small town sucks and the tricare people here don't seem to care.
He said the only way i could go to San Antonio or Houston was if the doctors here didn't have any clue at all what was going on with me.

I'm going to do research on the doctors here and see if any of them might have seen a case like mine before and get their opinion.
Other then that I'm more at ease just knowing that its just more of something i need to keep and eye on...and if it does reoccur then i will have treatment.

As a retired military person and currently on Medicare & Tri-Care, I am not aware of anything that would limit coverage to the local geographic area, unless, perhaps, you're in some sort of HMO. You need to check this out. My experience has been that docs know zilch about medical insurance.

Well thats a crappy insurance plan...only in your own town. Do me a favor and actually call your insurance company and find out if thats truly their ownly option. They obviously allowed your Uro to get a second opinion from Mayo so i would question that.
What prescription are you on for the UTI at present? How frequently are the occuring? Have they done any cultures on the bacteria present? You might also want to get a check up with your OB/GYN especially if you are having any kind of discharge...there is sometimes a relationship between the two.

OK so i just got back from my primary care giver on base here.
And he feels that i don't need a second opinion but if i wanted i could have one but they have to be in my town, can't be in Houston or San Antonio.
He tried to explain to me more that its more of just needing to keep any eye on it for the next 5 to 15 years to see if anything returns...because truly they don't know what to do with my age.

So he gave me some peace of mind...so I'm going to research the other doctors here in San angelo and see if i do want to go to any of them... other then that I'll still need to go through tests to figure out why I'm having UTIs and urgency so bad, because they both believe that its not the cancer that is causing it.:side:

found this article on De Novo tumors which usually occur in younger people.
Its good that the slides were sent to Mayo.
For my own piece of mind i would seek that second in person opinion from MD Anderson if its possible if not just to put your mind at rest.
