Thanks for your response. We are still not sure if mine is a T1 or T2-T3 yet, it looks to be T1 but the pathologist wanted a larger sample. Why is the BCG painful?

Hi, I've been Type 2 diabetic for 12 years, and had 3 instances of noninvasive bladder cancer in the last 5 years. My only problem is that the BCG treatments are painful for me, so the stress on those days raises my blood sugar for the day...Otherwise, no problems.

TaG1 12/05
3 recurrences
BCG started 9/09

I am being treated in Baltimore. I was not on Actos but I smoked for a very long time and am a diet soda junkie.
I am contacting Hopkins for my second opinion and will probably change doctors. The urologist said it was because of my weight (I am super morbidly obese) that he couldn't get it all via cystoscopy, who knows. I already knew I was not happy with him before we started.

cyn..where are you located. you need a second opinion from a specialist who deals with bladder cancer on a regular basis and not safely remove what he can......a top uro/surgeon will get it all not leave anything in there to seed. Give us a location and we'll guide you to the right place. The diabetes drug Acto's is linked to bladder cancer...were you taking that one by chance?

Hello Cyn... so sorry about your having the tumor, but the good news is that it is out of there now and the real work can begin to chart the best course of treatment for you. You've already started by lining up a second opinion. I don't have any experience with diabetes but just wanted to say welcome to the forum and I hope that your path report brings the best case scenario.

Catherine

Best wishes... Catherine
