Your opinion please
Posted by Stephany on July 26, 2008 at 3:52 pmI’m wondering if anyone here has any contact with Cancer Treatment Center of America. If so, I would like to hear from you. Feel free to email me privately, or do this on the website.

Holly, this was exactly what I needed to hear….words of wisdom with no sugar coating. I think I’m going to try to line up all those extra things here at home and see how it goes. Hope you’re doing better tonight.
Did you ever see my question about whether or not you had tried Tramadol or Klonopin?
Thanks again for your candor.

Hi,
I was treated at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America for my breast cancer almost 8 years back. It worked – I have not had breast cancer come back! When I was dx’d with bladder cancer I made inquiries to them about it – they are private hospitals and refused to tell me even how many RCs they did in a year unless I went there for 4 days of labs and tests first. Needless to say I headed to Mayo’s. And I think it was the right choice as my cancer was suspected to be a T2. Had I been a T4 – I may well have made a choice to atleast do the 4 days and see what they had to offer.
CTCA is good in that they look at all types of treatment – nutrition, spiritual , eastern medicine, etc. long before you are what traditional medicine considers terminal. They seem more open to trying new things rather than just pushing what is known to generally not work. This is just my own humble opinion. Please note that I have still not chosen them for any treatments with my current cancers even though I am ambivalent with my current drs and a lack of solid treatment plan.
Please know that they are more expensive than any other institution I have seen! Even with insurance. I also have heard of a few who sought treatment there and wished they hadn’t. Sorry if I haven’t help you at all with this, but I wanted to honestly share what I have experienced and heard of them.
God Bless, Holly

Thanks, Karen. I’m waiting to hear from them on pre-cert, then we’ll think about it.

Stephany,
If they take your insurance great…We checked it out, and very few insurance companies are even accepted there…I just worry that families looking for hope anywhere and everywhere like you and I are, will spend their life savings, and then some, and not get anything more than the hospital where you are being treated at now…
Remember that all cancer treatments, and all cancer drugs have to be approved by the FDA…I just don’t know if they have anything different there? I think that it has been seen as a cancer resort of sorts…with massage, spiritual support, etc…but as far as better treatments I don’t think so…
