    Hi All!
A very fed up Betsy Mae here. Guess what – I’ve got yet another infection!Luckily I was seeing my GP today anyway so at least I’ve managed to get some antibiotics straight away. I’m trying something new called pivmecillinam which is apparently ‘big in The States’. Any thoughts?
    Hope to feel perkier soon!

Well, I was hospitalized with an infection in late August for four days because my temp was above 102 and the docs were worried. When they discharged me, they had me taking “Clindamycin” which the Infectons Disease doc matched up with the cultures that they got out of me. I finished that stuff on this past Wed morning and low and behold, on Thursday evening, felt abdominal pain and a fever starting up. Because it was much earlier in the course of the infection, the fever was lower this time. I had a scheduled visit to my Uro on Friday and he was going to put me on “proquin” for the stuff from visit (urethrascope) and for my symptoms but when he realized that this started only a day after the clindamycin was ended, he decided to just restart that stuff.
Thus far it seems to have knocked down the infection and the symptoms are going away.
I really hope that i don’t have to do this one to two times per month like some of you!

    Dear Betsy Mae,

I am glad they caught the infection early and have started meds to hopefully clear it for good this time.

On the 14th I will be one year post RC and must have had a neo-bladder infection every month for the first six months and my last one was in May.

My Urologist informed me that it is common to have infections in the first year until the new diversion settles.

It seems to have settled for me now touch wood….and I hope this will be true for you too…
