  • When to See an Oncologist

I had my left kidney and ureter removed 1/22 following discovery of a low grade TCC tumor in the renal pelvis (no spread). My first 3 month cysto was clear, although the area where the ureter was removed looked a little “suspicious”. A 1cm tumor was discovered in the 6 month cysto and on 8/10/10 they did a TURBT and took 3 biopsies. Two were low grade cancers (one was in that suspicious area). I now am to wait 3 months for the next cysto and if there is a re-occurrence, BCG treatment will be discussed. Question: Should I be visiting an Oncologist now? I am being treated at Rochester Mayo and urologist is very experienced. All comments, ideas, etc welcome!!

Glad to hear they are all low grade! Usually the Urologist handles BCG and you will see an Oncologist if you need systemic chemotherapy at any point. But as always please ask your Urologist what their take is on the subject.

I was happy to see you in chat last night and didn’t get a chance to say good night. I thought you said it was high grade last night. If I seemed confused by your question about BCG last night that is the reason.

Crossing my fingers for your next check up.
