Your new warrior name sounds perfect for you. We used to live in Wisconsin but moved to Tucson this year. Could not face any more winters there. My husband had all his Bladder Cancer treatment in Madison until he switched to a urologist at the University Hospital here in Tucson. Also we have daughter that lives in Minnesota.

I am crushed you didn’t pick “VENUS’ means beutiful roman goddess, like APHROTIDE…thats okay, I’m just kidding, I always want to be the QUEEN,,I don’t know of what? Your selection is perfect!! GingerHolly,
Excellent choice. And I know your Grandma would be so very proud of you, just as so many of us are. When I think of the name Holly, I can’t help but think of brave, courageous, caring, kind, enthusiastic, fun, smart, wise, spiritual, outgoing, compassionate, etc….and so much more. No matter what you call yourself, you are a wonderfully strong person and all of us have so much admiration for you….some of our strength is a result of knowing you. Thank you, Holly, for being you! Hugs to you! As always, you are in my daily prayers. Melodie

I agree that your warrior name sounds perfect. You have been so helpful in your posts and I want you to know that I will be a prayer warrior for you too. God has blessed you already with your kind heart and gentle spirit that is felt in all your posts. Although we are now living in California, Harry was born and raised on the Iron Range of Northern Minnesota…and he’ll never live in a snowy location again! God bless you and know you are in my prayers. Margot
Ann Athena,
I like your new name. And for the record, I think that you probably have the sweetest courage that I have ever seen.
I am praying for you too. And, I hope you will stay right here where you are comfortable.

Dx January 2006GuestJanuary 5, 2008 at 5:24 pmHello Everyone :)
Thank you all for the wonderful input in finding my warrior name. After much deliberating I have finally decided on WARRIOR ANN ATHENA…
My Gramma was named Ann and she battled cancers when I was a young girl. She was dx’d back in the 1960’s when treatments were barbaric, she fought 10 years. My middle name is Ann, also. She was a determined German woman who greatly influenced me in the short time we had. So in honor of her and her fight, and in her spirit, I am claiming the name Warrior Ann Athena. ( I want Athena too – talk about a formidable female!)
I am doing ok today, although I get anxious about the mail. I know the next pack from Mayo’s – the final reports etc from the check up – will likely have my changed status. As long as no one is bothered, I would like to keep posting in the invasive section for a while as I am not ready for the “m” word yet.
Just out of curiosity – is anyone here from Illinois, Wisconsin or Minnesota?
I want to thank you all for your kind words, and prayers. When I see the sweet words and references to stregnth it is hard to believe you are reffering to me! Just for the record – I am 1/2 chicken – I sprout feathers before every medical procedure! I do pray alot though ! God Bless, HollyGuestJanuary 5, 2008 at 4:31 pmHolly,
Glad your holidays were wonderful for you. Getting thru the holidays is sometimes a challenge when one has issues as you do. Being the warrior you are you managed to conquer them with enjoyment!!! I am going out on a limb and suggest a possible name, Venus,,,surrounded by stars,, a planet of its own, you are in our prayers, hope for some good news and that your feeling better..Gingerholly – i like “maia” – brave warrior. because you have been so brave. your attitude is amazing given what you have and are still going through. i admire you so much. only a real trooper could still find things to be thankful for in the face of what is going on with your health. i also vote for more retail therapy. lol!

I vote for Athena if you must have a new name…tho I agree, dear Holly, that you already are strong and quite the warrior. Also agree that you should push to have those scans done as early as possible.
Don’t fret so much, however, about your mental condition…I’m right there with you. Some days I feel like I am in a fog and don’t know how to find my way out of it. I was planning my return to work and my spouse reminds me that I’m not ready yet. He is very attentive to detail and he says I am just not right yet…whatever that means. Today I contacted a social worker and she is going to try to get me into some type of rehab. for chemo patients…maybe some type of therapy can help me with the mental disconnects I have going on. If I find it to be useful, I will share the details with you.
Glad you are getting some new furniture…enjoy; stay strong. Lots of hugs! Melodie

Harry and MargotGuestJanuary 3, 2008 at 10:55 pmHi All :)
I indeed had a B12 shot at 2;30 this afternoon. I didn’t even cry! My hubby went with to make sure I did not chicken out lol
In todays mail I had a packet from Mayo’s that the bone scan etc is scheduled for the week of Valentines. Monday I will get it changed to sooner as I am extremely uncomfy in waiting that long. This cancer has been like a freight train from the get go and I will not waste precious time if I don’t have to. Thanks for the input, I needed to know I am not psychotic.
As far as a warrior name…..Yes, I agree I have been a warrior named Holly, and that I have been fierce at the fight. I do like Athena, yet I do like Bathilda, too. Still not decided yet, but my therapist thinks it would really be helpful I do this :)
It is very hard to understand my stage is changing and what it really means. In my own way I am coming to terms with it. Again I find myself struggling with reality, and I truly appreciate the space here to do that. Without this forum I would have not made it this far.
I look forward to hearing from your friend Cynthia. With great trepidation I venture on the net for pertinent info, hoping to avoid all that scares and freaks me out.
Thank you and God Bless all, HollyHolly,
“I think I would like to get a full scan within the next week or two rather than giving this more time to become more intimidating. If it is the only one – then we can continue the plan, but if it isn’t we could start treatment sooner which would be a bigger benefit to my survival.”
DO IT!!!!
Your Warrior Bud,

Dx January 2006GuestJanuary 3, 2008 at 5:48 pmHi ya Holly….How about Athena?
In the most ancient account, the Iliad, Athena is the Goddess of ferocious and implacable fight, but, wherever she can be found, she only is a warrior to defend the State and the native land against the enemies coming from outside.Suckers and stickers on the way……. :D
PatHolly,
I can’t offer you much in terms of concrete info but I want to say you are in my thoughts and prayers…you are so helpful on this forum (I don’t post too much but read it alot)…you are so strong and you will continue to be.
God Bless,
