Hey, remember me? Nov. 8 neo-bladder surgery. Four weeks plus in hospital. Came home Dec. 7. Lots of complications, but surviving.

I’ve had a foley in now for more than 5 weeks, and just got it changed yesterday. We are suspecting a UTI because of strong odor and leaking around the urethra. I smell like a rabbit – no joke.

So they want me to go in for a urinalysis today. I remember reading something earlier, but I can’t find it in the forums regarding what to be aware of when you go in for a urinalysis to an unsuspecting lab (neo-bladder noobs).

Can anyone direct me to the forum, or give some new info please??

    Thanks!

but the odor is definately a symptom..they need to test to find out what kind of bacteria it is to treat properly.

You will always test like you have a UTI but the question is whether or not you have any symptoms like a low grade fever, any pain, or I would imagine, the odor you referred to. Your uro would be the one to interpret the results and question you.

I don’t know if there is any difference in the lab results between the asymptomatic condition we all have or one that is the out of control that produces the fever and other symptoms. I got the impression from my uro the only way they tell is by symptoms.
