    Hi all

Am going in tomorrow as another tumour found. When I went for my pre op last week urologists nurse said they would probably use heat on it rather then the TURBT I was orginally going to have. I asked if I would have any mitomocin etc and she said probably not. Is this standard. Does anyone know out there. The tumour has come back in neck of bladder, not the original site.

I had a TURB 2 days ago. The Dr cauterized the tumor and administered Mitomycin. I believe that cauterization was employed because of the location of the tumor and its small size.

    Sally,

My second TURBT I believe they used a heated filament – the uro said the tumors “exploded” when touched by the filament. No mitomycin given at that time.

My last TURB was at the University of Chicago. They didn’t use Mitomycin either.

    Sally,

I’m not for sure what she means by heating….could be cauterizing? I’m guessing that this procedure is being done because of the location of the tumor. Just guessing.

I do wonder why they aren’t offering the Mitomycin.

I hope everything goes well for you.

    Best regards,
    Rosemary
