I was taking saw palmetto for the last month. I have surgery tomorrow. I only stopped taking the saw palmetto yesterday. Is this supplement a very powerful blood thinner or is it more of a mild blood thinner and would not have an effect on blood clotting for a TURBt surgery?

However I was eating a lot of vitamin K spinach and red meat for the last few days. I’m hoping my diet has counteracted the blood thinning affect of this herbal supplement/

You will get to talk with a lot of medical personnel before surgery. Tell them that.

Also you will fill out endlessly long form about previous diseases, drugs you take, habits, etc.

There will be a question “Do you take thinners”, make sure to mark yes.

You need to discuss this with your doctor before the TURB. If it would cause a problem he needs to know. Neither you nor I are in any position to make such a determination.

I think its too late because I have the surgery tomorrow. I don’t take any other blood thinners like aspirin. From what I can assess it’s a weak blood thinner. Also my diet is high in vitamin K which would counteract its effect somewhat. I’m hoping

This is DEFINITELY a question for your doctor.
