Too much info on the internet. Please help.
Hello all.
I hope nobody is offended but I hope my instincts are wrong and I actually don’t need to be a member of the group. Here is what I have information wise so far.
I have for the last 6 months been having what I thought were recurring uti’s. None of these responded to antibiotics. Most recently I was in such pain that I went to the ER. I was sent for an ultrasound of the bladder and the results were a thickening of the bladder walls. I have had almost constant wbc in my urine and now they are sending me to get a CT to “Rule things out.” I have read up on all the symptoms of Bladder Cancer and I am afraid I fit the bill. Of course, these symptoms could suggest other diagnosis…one hopes. Does this pattern sound familiar to anyone?
I don’t know if I should worry now or later, as if I had a choice.
I have two young sons and I’m freaking out. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, Jane. Cynthia’s advice is good….
Have you been seen by a urologist? These are doctors who
specialize in problem with the urinary tract. I think that
I might want to consult with a urologist before undergoing further
tests, such as a CT scan. If you are under the care of a urologist, then you are in the right place to start.Good luck.

Forum ModeratorThank you Anita. I have not had that test done. I think the doc is planning that one next. For some reason he felt this test should be done first to rule out cancer…I’m still spinning so I don’t think I asked all the right questions. I will in the morning!

janeThank you Cynthia. You are right, don’t know the questions yet. I will be calling my doctor in the AM to be sure they schedule this test quickly. I should have noted that I lost my mother and father to cancer, none bladder or related in any way and my son survived and is thriving in spite of hodgkin’s lymphoma when he was 5, he’s almost 11 now. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Have you had a cystoscope (where the urologist looks into your bladder)? That is usually how they see bladder cancer. Is the CT scan scheduled soon? Doug’s doctor always shows him the results immediately (and then has a radiologist review it to confirm). Hopefully you will know soon what is going on. Hope you don’t have to join our group, but know that there are many caring, knowledgable people on this site ready to help you through.

Yes you could be dealing with bladder cancer but it could be a thousand others things some more common. Even if it is bladder cancer reading everything on the internet about bladder cancer will not help you it will just give you a heart attack. Bladder cancer comes in many varieties and until you have a pathology you do not know if you are dealing with what is most common low grade or something more alarming. Treatment be from removing the tumor and keeping a watch or something more involved. The good news is that if bladder cancer is caught early and treated correctly it has a high rate of survial.
Now take a big breath you really know nothing now but that you need to find out what is going on. If you need information on bladder cancer we will be here for you. I know that not knowing is aweful it makes anything possible, knowing what you are dealing with will help a lot I am sure. After all you have to know what the question is before you can ask for answers.
I will have my fingers crossed for you that this is something easy to fix. Keep us updated.
