The waiting game………………..
Well – made the appointment!
It would appear that there have been ‘significant’ changes on my CT scan.
The first being ‘something’ in my armpit. This could be scar tissue from the surgery last year or….more worryingly, another tumour.
The second being ‘patches’ on my left hip bone which have spread considerably since my last scan. Hmm – I did not even know they were there at the last scan!!!I did have a lot of hip discomfort around November and into December of last year but by the time I decided to mention it to anyone it had gone. The report did state that due to the position of these patches I will be at significant risk of a hip fracture so no more pole dancing for me!!!!However the report also said that the patches were ‘not wholly indicative of mets’.
The upshot is that I will be discussed at the multidisciplinary meeting tomorrow and a plan will be arranged. Hopefully it will include a bone biopsy which, although will be painful, will at least tell us if the bone patches are malignant or not.
So – once again we are playing the waiting game. keep hugging!!!

So sorry you’re playing the waiting game and hoping the scan is done soon and shows the patches are benign. Thinking of you,

I really hope they get your bone scan under way as soon as possible, it is the waiting that is the worst, and that this is just a false alarm. Lots of big positive energy vibes on their way to you!

New Man! [/size]GuestSeptember 24, 2009 at 10:37 amHi!
Just heard that I’m scheduled for a bone scan as soon as possible. The Team have also discussed the armpit findings and feel that it is probably changes following surgery that have been picked up.
Am feeling a bit more positive now.
Many thanks for all of your support – much appreciated as ever!
Honey has perked up too which is a good sign!
Betsy Mae;)I·m in here with the continuous hug, and sending positive vibes too.
Diane(((((((((Big Hug))))))))) from me. I don’t know how easy it is to get a bone scan and a PET scan authorized but I think they would provide better information and a lot less painful than a bone biopsy. I think it’s worth asking about. PET scan would pick up soft tissue cancer and the bone scan would of course pick up if the bone changes are. If you are not having pain in that area I would think that to be a good sign.
I do wish tests could give immediate definitive answers. Waiting is hard on a person. Julie

ABLSCGuestSeptember 23, 2009 at 8:55 pmDon’t know how it works over there but i hope the multidiciplinary team also includes a second opinion on pathology. Scar tissue shows up very differently than a tumor on a CT scan with contrast. And why were the patches not mentioned in the prior scan?
I’m only saying this as i’ve had some bad readings myself but have the ability here in the US to have someone else read them….or lots of people read them.
I do hope all is well but stay on top of them and ask the questions……..and i do send hugs………Pat{{{{{{{{{{Hug}}}}}}}}}}
