Talking about your cancer and how you are treated
Posted by vgau on November 4, 2009 at 11:34 pmNow that I’ve told a few people about my cancer I’m trying to figure out a few things.
Did people treat you differently? I’m not sure if I want everyone to know because I don’t want pity parties or for people to feel uncomfortable with me. Therefore, I’m also not sure about how to share the news sometimes. Close friends and family are one thing, but people I work with seem different.
Words of wisdom are needed. Vi

Happy Birthday Vi!
Mike, you kill me!
I am 54 and soon to be 55! I was told last week that 70 was the new 40. Does that make me 29?

I’ve seen your many helpful posts. I’d say you’re top of the hill, or at least tops.

You are right-on.
Also, if you have a good sense of humor, you can get through anything easier. It is not all fun and games but my husband and I have had some great laughs through some scary times :woohoo:Nix

It’s all relative.
Want to look skinnier?
Hang out with people who are heavier.Want to look younger?
Hang out with people who are older.Want to look more handsome/prettier?
Hang out with people who are uglier.Want to show off an overstretched neobladder?
Drink beer with people who have regular bladders. :DMike

My opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of ABLCS or anyone else. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.I suggested to the staff that since I was the only one with cancer, I should be the only one to eat all the great treats that were made for someone with cancer. We agreed that it was very “big” of me to share.
I do have great support at work and home.
My other suggestion was to change the bell curve in old age. If 50 is the middle I will say I am going down hill, but not ready to say “over” the hill.
