    Hi all,

My mom recently was diagnosed with bladder cancer from a clinic after being given an ultrasound and a cytoscopy. We do not yet know what stage it is (her appointment with the Cancer Center is scheduled for this Wednesday) and I know I should just wait, but the waiting is driving me crazy and it doesn’t help reading through all the articles online. One of the main things I’m worried about is that she says there are now a lot of blood clots when she is using the bathroom – is this an indicator of a later stage? She first started noticing blood in her urine back in September.

Thank you so much for anyone that can help.

I am sorry you are here.
I am so Glad you found us!

You are going took fast. Stay in the moment. You mother needs a calm partner. Get the notebook and take it with you to every Dr appointment.
Put your questions in it before the visit.
Write down what the Dr says during your visit.

Believe me, You will forget! I DID.

Whatever the news, follow the aggressive protocol for getting rid of the cancer.

But right now, you can’t change things by worrying yourself sick.

Keep us in the loop….. we care and sometimes we even help.

From what I’m reading, your story is as of yet, incomplete. Correct me if I’m wrong. You say there is a diagnosis of bladder cancer from a cysto. Cysto’s find tumors, not necessarily cancer. Your next Cancer Center visit will be for a surgery? (TURBT). This is to remove what they found (the first attempt), from which the tumors(s) will be analyzed for a pathology report to determine what it is, and what stage (more waiting). Now you have more specific information for her, and can determine how to proceed. Glad you found this place.
Chasing B-C via online sources will generate undue fear and anxiety. Best wishes for both of you at this time.

The exam may very well have dislodged some blood clots. As Anita mentioned, this is not an indicator of the extent of the disease. It is hard, but patience is the best thing now. When your mom gets her diagnosis and treatment plan, please let us know.

    Best wishes to you both.

    Irene,

The blood clots are not necessarily an indication of the stage of bladder cancer. Best wishes to you and your mom. The waiting is a horrible part of bladder cancer. As a fellow caregiver, I know where you are coming from.
