Hello everyone. I have had my last of my six initial BCG treatments a few weeks ago. I just noticed today that I passed what appeared to be a small, threadlike clot. There was no noticeable blood in my urine but the last few drops seemed to have a little blood. Is this normal? Has anyone else had problems with bleeding post-BCG?

I noticed quite a few small, threadlike clots follow my 6 BCG treatments and mentioned them to my URO but he did not seem concerned. Subsequent Cytology and Biopsy showed no cancer but I do have irregular cells called dysplasia.

    Hi Rosemary,

I just had my third intro to BCG (I had six wks a yr ago after Ta was found. Now with CIS I am starting again also with maintenance in three months. Last yr I did not have any side effects. This time I had some bleeding and a slight fever 99.9 for a few hrs. Is this normal. The bleeding stopped in a few hrs also.

    G,

Sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you for correcting me. I’m having a little difficulty reading posts on my son’s small screen computer.

Please, for sure call your Doctor on this one. Any bleeding for no apparent reason needs to be reported. He needs to know so he can determine the cause!

    Regards,
    Rosemary

Thank you Ms. Rosemary. I did bleed during my treatments, but I have been finished with treatments for a few weeks (at least the initial six week cycle). This bleeding is nothing like what I had during my BCG. I mean, very small scablike passage and a few drops of blood after. But overall, my urine looks great. I think I will, though, call my uro just to be safe. He may want to do a urinalysis just to be sure it’s nothing heavy.

    Hey G,

I bled with each treatment after about the 2nd one. I always reported it and my doctor did not seem concerned. The last two treatments the bleeding increased was pretty heavy.

I would say that you should be sure to report this to your doctor on your next visit.

    Regards,
    Rosemary
