Had my first one year cystoscope July 29th, everything looked good, but I was waiting until the tests came back to say anything. The cytology was good, but it took 16 days before the FISH test came back….negative, so today I am one happy camper:)

    Nix,

FWIW, my uro had me do 6 weeks on, 6 off, then 6 more and that was it. He reasoning was that BCG can cause serious problems as a cumulative protocol. He also studied under Dr. Lamm in San Antonio when he was there so he did deviate. Also, his reasoning is mine was caught early (small papillary tumor) so the lesson here is everyone is different.

    Congrats again on 6 years!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Wow Joey, that is the first time I ever heard of that! Are you on any extra BCG?

Nancy I believe thar Dr. Lamn does additional BCG like every other year to keep the immune system on alert.

Thanks for the good wishes, Joey.It is funny you should ask that question. I never thought of that, until it was asked earlier in this thread if I was on any medication. At one time, my Uro actually said “no more BCG ever”, but since my bladder finally healed, I don’t think that would be a problem.
I have never read anything in the Protocol of continuing BCG after x number of years. But to be honest, after that question was asked about being on any medication, I thought maybe that would be a good idea. But thinking it through, why not wait, in case it is needed in the future?

Nancy excellent news. Has your URO ever discussed additional BCG in future years. My URO has advised that the 30 I received is it unless it would come back and then we could consider again.

    Enjoy the great news.

No, I am not on anything since my 24th BCG 2010. At that time my bladder was in bad shape. My Uro , then, did a lot of biopsies , and then with 19 BCG @ full strength, whew! It took two years for my bladder to heal. Changed Uro’s, doctor carefully treated my angry bladder and finally had relief.
    24 BCG washes
24 months of healing from BCG and biopsies
    6 years cancer free………..PRICELESS :)

I am hoping to follow your great results!

Great News ! I hope your year 7 checkup is as good as mine FINALLY turned out to be after a “false Positive ” scare! Once again congratulations?

PS Are you still getting BCG or on any other protocol?
