  • Results of CT scan don’t sound good; cystoscope exam TH

Posted by mssmr on January 29, 2008 at 7:17 pm

I talked to my nurse on the phone, not so good a way to get results. I think I’ll call back and ask to pick up a copy of the report today. I did hear that my largest liver lesion had grown from 4.0 to 4.9 CM since November. And it sounds as if I have more lung nodules than before. I am confused about what to do now. My urologist wants to do cystoscopy on TH and I am also scheduled to see my medical oncologist that day. One thing has to be deferred — but which I don’t know. I do want to know what impact the CT scan results will have on my treatment, but I also am interested in learning what’s going on in my bladder (and urethra). Feeling mildly “shocky” it is hard to make a decision and act.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks for any thoughts, ideas — Susan (mssmr)

but this chat is a nice diversion. Thanks, again — Susan

    Karen,

Go to Cafe Astrology.com, go to Leo,,,,
We are in good company, Leo’s have many qualities, and don’t like to be messed with, confident, successful, care alot about others and are offended easily if others don’t see they are about, helping. They are very open, have hearts of gold, they can be funny, like to be center of attention around family, read it, its interesting…oh, seem to have some royalty traits, we are Queen something!! I knew it!!!Ginger

Thank you Leigh and Ginger for encouraging continuing the communications here.
Your warmth, insight and support really helped me through a rather tough weekend
emotionally. I am again playing a waiting game (waiting for my consultation at M. D. Anderson to get set up) and I got some good family news — my first grandbaby is
due in August. Oh how I want to live to see that grandbaby.
I appreciate you both very much — Susan (mssmr)

    Leigh and Susan,
Another sharing story of two bladder cancer warriors sharing thir information and their heart felt thoughts. You are very valuable to our forum, without your input neither one of you would have discovered others who fear this disease. You both are very special people. You have overcome one fear, sharing your story!!! It is a big step, my thoughts and prayers are with you both, Ginger

    Dear Susan,

You are courageously and admirably showing us all your strengths in dealing with bladder cancer.

I wish I could turn the clocks back also and have listened to my body more with the chance and hope of an earlier diagnosis. You are certainly not stupid in your actions as you did the best you could do with the knowledge you had. I too have beat myself up so many times and we both know it only takes us off the focus of the now and so is just not worth it. (easier said than done though) :)

The world we live in is very materialistic and we think nothing of spending money on decorating our homes and spending loads of money on maintaining our gas guzzling cars. It is such a shame we are not educated more too at least every three years spend money on our own bodies and have a preventative body scan.

We have all since our diagnosis become so much more aware and educated to this disease and if you knew then what you know now, yes it could have been different. You are certainly not to blame for that and you are doing just fine by trying to put the things you cannot change in a place that will not hurt you anymore.

I for one have been inspired and enlightened by you sharing your story and you will not only help others avoid the pitfalls as you mentioned, you will also save the lives of others. We are all connected together in one universe and your openness to share will help so many.

Maybe the Rational Therapeutics testing can be discussed at your evaluation at M.D. Anderson. It certainly seems to make sense to test your type of cancer cells to find the best chemo compound that reacts positively, giving you the best chance. My hope is this type of testing will become standard as presently it is as you know hit or miss to the success of chemo.

Susan, thank you for being strong as it makes me stronger too….
    Kind Regards
    Leigh

Thank you, Leigh. My current oncologist resisted the idea of using Rational Therapeutics. He seems to have had experiences (mostly with gyn. patients)
where drugs not recommended by RT have worked well. He worries about the
lab vs live patient aspect. My thought is that RT requires 4 weeks without chemotherapy and I’m not there yet. The next time someone does a biopsy, though, I will be and can re-assert the case.

Leigh — Thanks for your feedback on telling my story. I find it hard to do, actually, because I do think I “should have could have” been smart and assertive enough to have gotten a diagnosis before my cancer got to be the mess it has been at and since my late diagnosis. I do not like to feel stupid, disrespected, etc. any more than other folks do. I need to put part I and II (II pre-Bladder Cancer Web cafe)behind me though and to try to learn to help myself and I hope others deal with bladder cancer — so I am trying. As my audio tape says, I’m trying “to forgive myself and others for errors of the past.” But also to help others avoid some of the pitfalls. Thanks, again, for your supportive feedback.

I have also followed your story and, with so many others, wish you the best!

    Susan (mssmr)

    Dear Susan,

The Rational Therapeutics certainly makes a lot of sense and is worth further investigation.

I wish you all the very best with your evaluation at M.D. Anderson.

You are most definately in my thoughts during this time and I greatly admire you for sharing every step of your journey.

    Kind Regards
    Leigh

    Susan,
It sounds disappointing, the liver lesion, I will remain optomistic though as maybe it is not what it seems. The visit to MD Anderson will give you a better
perspective? Yes. Do something fun while there like Julie also mentioned, your great at diversions from the cancer, find a fun one…prayer warrior,,Ginger
