Referral to Dana-Farber – thoughts?
Hello all
I’ve been reading through your wonderful site and impressed by the helpfullness of all the contributors. We are currently living in Dublin, Ireland.My (American) husband has been diagnosed with invasive, high grade, agressive bladder cancer.
He has just completed MVAC chemo in Ireland which he has tolerated very well.He is considering having his cystectomy in the USA. So we are researching hospitals preferrably in the New England / North East area (but would consider other places).
We have a referral to Dana-Farber and as I am totally unfamiliar with US healthcare, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts anyone here might have regarding this hospital as a centre of excellence for BC and particularly neo bladder or Ileal conduit procedures.
We have been given the name of a surgeon there who we have been told is “doing 4 neo bladder procedures in December” i.e. that he seems to do a lot of them.
Any thoughts gratefully received.
