First, I would like to thank Sara Anne for her help especially with her comment that if your urologist performs only a handful of radical cystectomies a month then your urologist will be practicing on you. I am scheduled to have my surgery done November 2 with Eila Skinner of Stanford University School of Medicine. I am very happy and blessed that Skinner will be my surgeon.

Second, I will be joining my urostomy sisters and brothers on Monday, November 2. The past year has been very hectic to say the least. Without the support of the folks here at American Bladder Cancer Society, I don’t believe I would be as comfortable going into surgery as I am now.

I will see you all on the other side.

You are in good hands and I know you will do well. Remember the more you walk after surgery the sooner everything starts working and your strength will return. Sara Anne is be here when you get back on after surgery she had some eye surgery this week and can not read well until they remove the contact lens bandaging her eye. Once you wake up from surgery say to yourself now that is behind me. Every morning say to yourself I am one day closer to being well again. And one day your will wake up and say I am here. One day at a time is the message. We will be thinking of you and please let us know how you are doing as soon as you can.

Dr. Skinner has a great reputation.
