  • Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) treatment for Urothelial Carcinoma

Posted by jatonyctofla on June 17, 2018 at 6:34 pm

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center recently diagnosed me with Urothelial Carcinoma,

Right kidney lower pole – detached fragments of high grade urothelial carcinoma and hyalinized stroma.

Right kidney mid pole biopsy Invasive urothelial carcinoma, NOS

    Local invasion Lamina propria

    Medical Oncologist at MSK recommending:

removed my only kidney and be on dialysis.

    Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) immune therapy

As anyone familiar with Pembrolizumab immune therapy and it success.

Also, I need to find a good Medical Oncologist in either Central Florida area or within the State of Florida to administrate the drug and follow me.

    Thanks you for your support.

    Jatony,

Unfortunately, I do not know any doctors in your area. My suggestion of Moffitt is based on their NCI Cancer Center designation. They treat a full range of cancers, including both bladder and kidney.

Call them, ask the questions that matter most to you. If far away, ask if you can have a telephone consultation with a doctor dealing with your condition.

Keep asking questions. They will have a number of top doctors on staff, to whom tough questions can be directed. You could also ask about Mayo, if that is closer. Make the most use of your local resources as you determine who you want to see or be treated. The telephone can help speed up the process.

    Mr. Jack, thank you.

Do you know of a very experienced Medical Oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center or the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

    Jatony,

The only NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Florida is the Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Please see my reply to your query from two days ago. You are facing tough choices, and you need a highly experienced care team. NCI designated centers can offer that level of care. MSK is also such a center; having an additional opinions can be useful

Below is a link to the NCI center finder.
I hope you find the help and care you seek.

    Best,
    Jack
