Oncovite?
Posted by Bobbie on January 8, 2008 at 11:08 pmHi Everyone,
I’m new to this. I’ve just been diagnosed with non-invasive bladder cancer. I’ve had one recurrence in Sept. and my Doctor recommended BCG treatments which I just finished. A family member of my daughter has who had bladder cancer with BCG treatments but also has taken Oncovite for the past 9 years and has had no recurrence. Has anybody else tried it?
Looking forward to hearing from someone.
Thanks,

Double blind randomized clinical trials?… My ass. His Oncovite trials are an absolute joke.. Ask anyone with a scientific background to review his plots and they will laugh! It’s absolute BS. But believe in flying pigs if you want. Always trust the car dealer to give you a good deal right?
It’s a multivitamin folks!!!.. It has never been through any valid scientific trials for bladder cancer! Take it if you want, but really, don’t expect it to be beneficial fighting bladder cancer. I drink lots of Whiskey and diet cola and have been cancer free for 2 years, and I don’t take Oncovite.
But, on the flipside.. It’s mainly Canadian Whiskey that I mix with my diet Pepsi. So.. that’s a possible lead???
I think some doctors will agree with patients about taking Oncovite because they know it won’t hurt the patient and it makes the patient’s feel like they are doing something about a disease that is probably quite out of their hands. Nothing wrong with taking a multivitamin, just don’t falsely believe it’s a cure-all or cure-anything!

Dear Friend
Vitamin B6 is the first of the vitamins to reduce bladder tumor recurrence
in a randomized clinical trial. Folic acid is increasingly prominent in
prevention studies. I know of no reports showing a negative effect of B
vitamins in cancer- but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. What counts is
the results. The Oncovite preparation has been confirmed to dramatically
reduce bladder tumor recurrence in double blind randomized clinical
trials- the platinum standard of medical evidence.
Thanks for asking,
Don Lamm, MD”
My father is a male, 65, nonsmoker. Hematuria 01/08 TURB: T1 G3 widespread bladder+prostatic urethra; 3-month BCG.
Clean until 02/11: small TURB with no biopsy; 06/11 tumour detected TURB 08/11: awaiting biopsy, prostatic adenoma removed. Biopsies show both were benign. (…)there’s also quite promising research into green tea extract when used as a supplement during BCG treatments. I used it but I have to add that I eventually had a cystectomy! I think your aim with all of these things should be your overall well-being and not just the eradication of cancer. I felt really great when I improved my diet and took supplements and exercised more. Also have a google on aged garlic too.
Hi All,
My husband takes one Oncovite a day. He was diagnosed with BC in Nov. 2005, surgery in Dec. 2005, and has had no recurrences.

Patricia,
I’m afraid, being so new to all this, I might misinterpret your information, but I have noted down your comments to ask the four doctors we know.
Rosemary,
Thanks very much for all you say. I have just sent the question about B vitamins to Dr. Lamm through the link you posted. It is remarkable that my father has been diagnosed the same tumour you had. Congratulations for your progress and thank you for your constant support and care.
I’d like to say to both of you that it’s very comforting to read your comments in the different topics of the forum.
Love,
Gabriel

You are such a good son.
Here is Dr. Lamm’s site discussing the Oncovite issue. Admittedly, this website has a slanted view of Oncovite usage (Dr. Lamm is the creator, developer, researcher and producer of the Oncovite supplement.) However, Dr. Lamm, in my opinion, has been a great advocate of Bladder Cancer patients. Because he has been very responsive to us and our general inquiries, it is my belief that his heart is in the right place and that he is dispensing advice for the true benefit of the Bladder Cancer patient.
My own Urological Surgeon stated the Oncovite issues as being “murky”….
I personally did not use the Oncovite supplement throughout my BCG treatments, however I used a comparable Vitamin/Herbal Supplement of my own choice.
I do not see how it can hurt….

Your father is very lucky to have you for a son.

Dx January 2006GuestFebruary 8, 2008 at 11:18 pmHi Gabriel….most doctors use the serum Bl2 test but that really doesn’t give you an accurate reading in the tissues….The uMMA test which is a urine test for Methylmalonic Acid gives a true reading…..Mayo’s uses it as their gold standard…as do others…..unfortunately a lot of doctors do not know about it including urologists. An elevated level of Methylmalonic acid will indicate a B l2 deficiency. Bl2 deficiency is present in about 20% of the elderly.
And lord knows how many of us who have cystectomies are affected as the only place to metabolise Bl2 is in the ileum which is used for the reconstruction of internal pouches.
PatHi Pat
Could you please explain “gold standard being the quantatative uMMA test”.
Thanks. (I’m ESOL)

My father starts BCG on Monday for T1 G3.
His doctor says the Oncovite supplement would be good for him, but only if taking the B vitamins out. He claims that Bs make both good and bad cells stronger.
What do you guys think about this?

I’m interested in knowing why you are so harsh in your assessment.
I’m not taking oncovite at the moment but considering it. Dr. O’Donnell in Iowa also suggested I take them. I just have always been leary of anything in pill form.
If you knew Dr. Lamm – you would see what a genuine person he is. He is not money motivated at all. He has helped me and not asked for money but asked only that I make a donation to BCAN and the like. He truly wants to beat this damn thing. His office lacks the glitz of some of the better funded university doctor’s offices. He is in my opinion – one of a few doctors that AREN’T motivated by money.
Just my $.02.
Best,
GracieOncovite is BS. Don’t waste your time.. the studies are garbage, Lamm makes a bundle off his false info. ;D

37 yo, Seattle, WAIf it’s not available in Europe, it really does not look too difficult a recipe to mix-and-match by yourself. I’m not suggesting this (please support Dr. Lamm’s research by using Oncovite if possible), and certainly do this with your doctor’s blessing, but if it’s not available in your area, here is what’s in an Oncovite:

Do you think it is available in Europe?
