Not quite newly diagnosed
I’m a 74 year old retired Navy Vet that spent about 7 years in diesel submarines and smoked from mid 1950 until 1981. I have been following information about other submariners having bladder cancer also.
A bladder tumor was found Oct 2014 and had T1HG removed in December at VA Hospital in Albuquerque. In January I had 6 week treatment with Gemcitabine. On 6 month check up another tumor was seen so had second TIHG and 4 non cancerous tumors removed. I’m to start BCG treatments August 26th for 6 weeks then get check after 6 weeks. I was offered the opportunity to remove bladder but want to see result of BCG before taking any radical steps.
I looked at several clinical trials but didn’t see anything that I was willing to gamble on.
My wife of 57 years is very concerned and I’m worried about her as well as myself. Neither of us are sleeping well but are hoping for the best.
