Hello… I hope you are coping with your new circumstances and healing well from your TURBT. You did not indicate whether you have other family who can help, or any other type of support network of trusted friends or neighbors.
If you do, please let them know what is happening. Many will want to help you on days you may need to rest. If you have those people in your life, perhaps you could begin to let them know and help with some of your routine things so they will know what to do when you need some assistance. It might also help your little ones get used to another person being around to help mom sometimes.
My heart goes out to you because I know you feel trapped in a situation that you don’t have time to deal with, but you have to for all of you. BCG has proven to be very successful for many people and I hope the same for you. Please come back to the forum whenever you need to talk. We will try to answer your questions, or just listen to your worries. We’re pretty good at that.

I have had 30 BCG treatments starting back in February 2008. I have a lot of side effects but they last no more than 36 – 48 hours. Some frequency and minor burning lasts a little longer however I am able to work. I would get my treatements around 9am with most of the side effects starting around 4 PM ( frequency and burning starts much sooner) and last through the night. Next day I am fatique but on my way to feeling better. Have not had a recurrence in over 4 years.

Sorry for the reason you have joined our club. I was told I had BC on March 2, 2011 and found this site. I had TURBT one week later and have had three sets of BCG treatments since – still clear. I don’t say too much here, but the people who are regulars (and there will be more) are wonderful, experienced and supportive. Mike gave you good advice. Keep coming back!

Sorry you have to be here but glad you found us! It is one of those “ton of bricks” moments.
You are also going to have a schedule to maintain for your BCG as well. What was your diagnosis? CIS. Ta high grade?I haven’t found a single one of us who had time for this either but you certainly have a challenging set of circumstances due to the special need for structure and routine. You will likely need some help from your older ones with the younger children.
The reaction to BCG varies but if it works as it should it will be taxing on you for at least a day or two. It typically has a progressive reaction so the first two might be a piece of cake and then it may get tougher. The reason I say this is so you don’t assume it to be a piece of cake based on the first treatment as you will need help with your younger children.If you have outside help you may want to call them just in case.
I wish you the best and only mild (but effective) reactions during your treatment.
Let us know if you have any questions. Take notes when you talk to your uro. Sounds like he/she is doing all of the right things.

I had a TURB and chemo wash on Sept 30th I got my results on Friday the 7th. I have another TURB on Oct.3rd and after I heal I will have BCG. My kids are 19,13,7&6. my two youngest are autistic and one of them also has Cerebral Palsy. Their needs are very involved. I worry that this will be very difficult for them. Their schedules are very important to maintain. Like I told the urologist… I dont have time for this! ;)
