    Dear all,

I have been newly diagnosed this week with bladder cancer. The tumor was removed last week but i got the results of the biopsy and it was canceroues. My next step starting in January is BCG Treatment. Luckily the tumor did not go into the muscle of the bladder. Its been one week since surgery. I tried going back to work on MOnday. I worked till wednesday. Wednesday night i had a lot of blood in my urine. I spoke with the doctor and they said it is normal but i need to relax and take it easy. How long does this last? I am a very active person and used to always being on the go. It has been difficult this past week not being able to just do normal activities. What should i expect with the BCG Treatments?

I agree with the others regarding seeking a 2nd opinion, since you are close to MSK. They are tops when it comes to bladder cancer.
    All the best,

I would echo Pat’s suggestion that you seek a second opinion at a major medical center (MSK?) ASAP. The best that will happen is that you will find that your diagnosis and treatment plan are just right. The worst is that you will get really good advice and medical care. There are urologists and there are urologists who specialize in bladder cancer. You want the latter.

nevo’s…you’re so close to Memorial Sloan and being T1 high grade i would seek a second opinion before i start BCG. Memorial has some of the very Top bladder cancer specialists on board.
Dr. Harry Herr, Dr. Bernard Bochner are 2 of the top specialists

you want to make sure pathology is correct in this case.

Hi, I have had 18 BCG treatments and so far I have been clear since April 08. For about 30 hours after the treatments I have side effects, however after that I am OK. It certainly appears to be working. I will start my next three in Jan, numbers 19 – 21.

nevos..where are you located? Were you treated by a local urologist or a major university or cancer center? What exactly did pathology say?
Second opinion always a really great idea especially with pathology. we can help with that.
