A male 66 here in Florida. I was just Diagnosed with T3b bladder cancer. I am having to wait until October 7h for my appointment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. I called over 2 weeks ago for this appointment. I have done a lot of reading on the internet but the waiting is really getting to me. I don’t know how long the wait after this appointment will be for the surgery. What have others experienced?

    Ron,

T3b is NOT something to mess around with or to wait with.
Try to get in where Pat suggested. You need the best and you need them NOW!!!!

I agreed with you, Pat. That is why I clarified with my dx’d and suggested other places, if it is at all possible for RonFors to go to another hospital. If he can’t leave the state, becuse of insurance, Orlando or Miami are an option.

Nix..i don’t have a problem with Moffitt with non-invasive but for invasive 3b i’d get the best i could find and quickly. I don’t know if you were around when Maria was here and Moffitt kept putting her off………she didn’t make it.

I go to Moffitt and my doctor is Dr. Sexton. I am very pleased with my care. However, everyone is different and every diagnoses is different. Mine started out as Ta and year later CIS – treated successfully (so far) with BCG.
If you are looking for another TURB or opinion, there are some very experienced and highly recommended surgeons up north. You might want to check on MD Anderson in Orlando, and there is a great doctor in Miami (I think Patrica has the name)
As Patricia always says ” get the best doctor you can afford!”
This is your life, and nothing is more valuable!
Good luck, I’ll keep you in my prayers and thoughts!

My opinion is that if a doctors office puts my appointment out that far they are either way over worked and over booked and can’t really give you there full attention, or they think that it is realy no big deal. Either way it is no good for you. I would take Pats advice and go to U of Miami.

Moffitt does not have that many bladder cancer surgeons and the wait is always long to get in there. And i don’t think they are the best. Can you go out of state or are you willing to travel within the state? U of Miami has a top urologist Dr. Solloway
