    Hi All,
I just joined this site and newly diagnosed with a superficial Ta grade 2/3 . I had today a consultation with my surgeon/urologist to agree on the way forward and therapeutic approach . According to him since the tumor was a single small size ( 5 mm) and completely removed I don’t have to do anything except a CT scan ( to be on the safe side) and cystoscopy early January 2016 I questioned the grade which was 2 slash 3?? He replied that this is based on the report made by the pathologist with some cancer fragments to be high grade. I then argued why he would not reccomand BCG treatments immediately which has shown to be very effective in high grade . His answer was to stay calm and to wait till next cystoscopy in 6 weeks time. Does this approach make sense since there is a high chance of cancer recurrence and progression?
I am 52 and living in Prague Czech Republic however your site is by far the best and most informative on bladder cancer
Any comments and feedback is much appreciated
PS: can you reccomand best hospital and/or clinics in Europe specialized in bladder cancer treatments ?
    Thanks
    Robert

Think your doctor is right on! There seems to be a question as to the grade….and BCG is not as effective with low grade. By doing another cystoscopy in 6 weeks, after the bladder has healed, he will get another look at the situation. It is very possible that he may want to do another TURB (biopsy). It has been shown that a second biopsy can result in a much more accurate diagnosis, since the urologist has a better idea exactly where to pay attention the second time around.

Yes, bladder cancer does tend to recur. But six weeks will not affect either the progression or the chance of recurrence. You have time to get the diagnosis and treatment right.

Sorry, I am not familiar with European centers. Maybe someone else will be.

    Good luck to you
