This has little to do with bladder cancer, other than what probally caused mine.

One your ago today, I quit smoking. It may seem like a small feat to some, but HUGE to me. Not only will I live longer with my new Neobladder, I have saved about $2,500.00, which I will take you all out to dinner with!

    Here’s to not smoking!

    Jim,
Glad to hear your good news. I’m doing great myself.
Andy, I know what a pain that cath is, but you don’t want it
out to soon then have to have it put back in, been there.
It’s good to hear you’re doing well.
Wishing all of you the best.

    Way to go Jim!!

Looking forward to my 10 month check and hopefully getting the same news Dr. Hafez gave you yesterday. He sure is a great guy and a fantastic surgeon. Talking with Julie (his PA) yesterday made me realize how lucky I am to have found him. People come from all over the country for his expertise! Yeah, I wish I could have gotten the cath out yesterday but it would have pretty early. I go down on Mar. 29 to check it again and that will 4 weeks to the day from surgery.

Great meeting you and Linda yesterday, looking forward to a dinner in Davison in the near future.

Another milestone, I had my 10 month post op visit yesterday.
CT Scan, blood work, and chest X-ray are negative. My Doctor said,
“Keep on doing what your doing, and see you in six months.”

Better yet, I met Andy, and his wife. Wonderful people!

A great day to be a cancer survivor, Jim

    Rick –

Good luck tomorrow – before you know it you’ll be in recovery mode. I was apprehensive too, pretty natural considering it’s major surgery. At 2 weeks out now the hardest part of my recovery is sitting still all day – sounds like you’ll be the same B) Keep us updated and we’re all rooting for you!

Rick, Concerned/scared is normal…….Don’t ya think!?!?!
This is a big deal! Just keep a positive attitude, and we will keep you in line, if you start to stray.

It sounds like you have a large support group, which will aide you dramaticly in your recovery. You will have days where you feel blue, and days where you think you are going nowhere fast, but all in all, it will be behind you in no time flat. I still can’t believe I am 10 months post op, and feeling great. Where does time go?

Thanks for the supportive comments… Tuesday is my prep day. Wednesday the 17th is surgery… in hospital at 10 AM… on the table at noon… should be in recovery by 5 or 6 PM… Concerned but not fearful thanks to all of you on line, my wife, family and friends… Crazy how something like this can make you aware of how lucky you are. Andy, I have a noon CT Scan, Blood work at 1:00, chest X-ray sometime in between,
    and then a 1:45 appointment with D-Fez.

I hope you get everything removed as well!!!

I agree with Mike and Jim! Good luck Rick – you’ll do great. Be sure to update us when you can. I’m doing better each day, can’t remember the last pain pill I’ve taken. My digestive system is getting back to normal also, a good thing for sure. The home nurse had been in twice and says I’m doing great. Hopefully next Friday will see the staples come out as well as the catheter. Depends on the cystogram.
