Just got bad news.
I had my CT scan yesterday and got the results today. I have 2 spots on my liver and one in the lymph nodes at the back of my abdomen. The cancer is very aggressive, T-4. They are going to start me on chemo, Gemcitabine and Cisplatin next week. I also
agreed tosign up for a clinical trial where they add Bevacizumab to the mix. The trial is a double blind trial so I won’t know for sure if I’ll get the 3rd drug. My oncologist said that the median survival rate is 13 months for my type of cancer at this stage. Do we have any long term survivors here that can offer me a better outlook? I thought the worst was over after my radical cystectomy but I guess not.John

Mark, I’m going to be 72 in July so I figured that with the time I have left I might be able to help in the research of this disease. Who knows, maybe I’ll be in the right side of the blind study and it’ll be the break thru drug. I know that the drug has proved to be a good treatment for other types of cancer.
It just hasn’t received FDA approval for treating bladder cancer.John

I don’t know what to say. I really admire you for allowing them to do the testing on you. My Dad did that 25 years ago also.
No he didn’t make it but I know in my heart, that the information found from those test results are the reason I and many others on this site are still alive to day.

John. I am so sorry to hear this.
I too, thought the Radical Cystectomy was the end of it. And NOW this. I wish I could help you with this, but I can only wish you the best and say prayers for you every day.
I hope the aggressive means they are employing can reverse the cancer . This damn disease is one that can never be taken for granted.Wishing you the Best
