Is a month too long for biopsy after cytoscopy?
My 51 year old husband had a cytoscopy today and the urologist identified a “large tumor” on the left side of the bladder. In answer to our question, the Dr. said similar tumors are typically malignant. We like this doctor. Due to a planned absence, the Dr. is not available for the biopsy until 03-04-15. The Dr. offered names of other urologists to schedule an earlier date for biopsy. In answer to our question, he indicated the month wait was not likely to impact the outcome. My husband first noticed blood in his urine about a month ago and has since received a course of antibiotics for possible urinary infection, a regular CT scan when a thickened bladder wall was diagnosed, a contrast CT scan and now cytoscopy. In hindsight, in recent months, there has been a need to urinate in the middle of the night. We have confidence in the Dr. But we have to be our own best advocates. I welcome feedback on experiences with wait times before the biopsy procedure and feedback on potentially finding a different Dr. While the waiting adds to the anxiety, it allows time for research and making some planning decisions. Thanks for your time and response.
