Ok this may be a limited study but hey worth a try since most antidepressants take 10 days to have any effect. A study by Perry Renshaw, MD.,Ph.D. at Harvard shows that Walnuts are twice as powerful as antidepressants…apparently the combination of omega-3 fatty acids and a natural compound called uridine.
    Worth a try….just a small handful a day.
My brother is a walnut tree farmer in Northern California so i always munch on the nuts every day as he keeps me in plentiful supply after harvest in the fall. Maybe he can bottle them?? ;)

Hi Pat, I read something somewhere that said brazil nuts also have a similar effect, so i eat them fairly regularly, but I always share my portion with my parrot, and as he·s the most cheerful little bird on God·s earth, I·m sure they work !!!!! LOL

Hi Melodie….well don’t discontinue the Celexa abruptly….it needs a gradual reduction….Discontinuation of Treatment with Celexa
During marketing of Celexa and other SSRIs and SNRIs (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors), there have been spontaneous reports of adverse events occurring upon discontinuation of these drugs, particularly when abrupt, including the following: dysphoric mood, irritability, agitation, dizziness, sensory disturbances (e.g., paresthesias such as electric shock sensations), anxiety, confusion, headache, lethargy, emotional lability, insomnia, and hypomania. While these events are generally self-limiting, there have been reports of serious discontinuation symptoms.

Patients should be monitored for these symptoms when discontinuing treatment with Celexa. A gradual reduction in the dose rather than abrupt cessation is recommended whenever possible. If intolerable symptoms occur following a decrease in the dose or upon discontinuation of treatment, then resuming the previously prescribed dose may be considered. Subsequently, the physician may continue decreasing the dose but at a more gradual rate

I love to put them on my salads and also in my oatmeal. Maybe I just need to make a daily habit of them and do away with my Celexa. Thanks, Pat
