I’m going in
Posted by GKLINE on September 8, 2009 at 7:19 pmThis may sound strange… I am going in the hospital today for a new hip. Life has been so crazy lately, I am looking forward to this as a vacation. (sick, I know)
Last year was a wild and wooley time for the RC…This operation is like a wondrous adventure. I was given a tour of the rooms, an indepth talk about pain meds, a touchy feely “we’re going to have a good time” sort of pre admission visit. I felt kinda like when my wife had the baby and we toured the maternity ward.
I just wanted you all to know I haven’t left for good….. Just for the better!     I’ll see everyone in a few days, when I am bionic

Great post George!
Glad you’ve recovered so quickly from the hip surgery. I agree with you that attitude is the key. You can’t let things get you down or you wind up letting things keep you down.
Bounce back, put one foot in front of the other, and keep on keepin’ on!Just so you know… YOU are one of those wonderful people that contribute to this site and inspire and help others! :)
Thanks for all you do and for sharing!
Mike

My opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of ABLCS or anyone else. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.THREW AWAY MY CANE YESTERDAY….WALKED AROUND MIRROR LAKE IN LAKE PLACID. I AM THROUGH WITH THIS PAST YEAR! I AM HAPPY TO SYA THAT.
I just had to get this out. From Bladder cancer to hip replacment, this has been a year. Some of my friends have said that I should ask God “Why Me?” But my response is “Thank God!” I will now spend the rest of my life spreading CHEER and Goodwill to all. Well, maybe not all… I am not giving any cheer to the miserable, mean spirited, bad attitude, lazy doomsayers ……… OK OK, I’ll even include them.
As a sidenote, My surgeon, and Physical Therapist both think I should be tested for some medical experiment. My recovery from both surgeries has been rapid and “amazing” They want to knwo my secret…. I have GOALS….. and a Schedule that must be attended to. But my real secret is the strength I receive from the people on THIS website. You have all faced the demon, cancer and spat in his face and pushed on with life. Sure, it has been scarey, and painful, but we have moved from strength to strength and pushed ourselves through.
I want to thank all of you for your support and I hope to return that support in the future as it is needed.
Thanks………… George

I am only 5 weeks out from my RC and honestly can’t imagine planning any surgery :P Was bouyed by your enthusiasm going in – it made me realize how my perspective about things will change as the months go by :).
Welcome back and congratulations on a successful surgery.

I’m OUT! The operation was a Snap! 45 min on the table. As they wheeled me into the OR, I was seranaded by Warren Zevon singing “AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO! Wherewolf ofo London”
This song will have special meaning for me from now on.Physical therapy was a great thing. I was only at the hospital for 3 days, and I felt fine getting out.
Now for some observations.
They Use the word Cure! So nice to hear.
They spend more time doing tests and being supportive than when I was in for the RC. mmmmmm
They constantly had to be told “He has a neo bladder, that is why his urine is so weird.” Oh yeahMy final thought.. This hip thing is a breeze. I’d recommned it to anyone. After the RC, this is truly a vacation. I can now walk somewhat normal.
My wife still thinks I’m insane
