    Hi all,

I’ve been gone awhile. Nat finished his chemo in early November and had surgery on Dec. 4. Neobladder surgery went great, Dr. Wilson was positively ecstatic about it. In the pathology they did find adenocarcinoma as well as TCC but it was confined to the bladder, no evidence in the nodes. So we are hoping for the best there.

However, he has this condition called ileus. He was in hospital for 10 days, out for 3 and I had to take him back. He stayed 7 more days. It’s been 4 days since he left the second time. Gradually he is able to eat small amounts but really has no appetite. He takes a bunch of pills and still has periods of nausea and distension. I think it is all gas related. Sometimes extremely painful.

Any of you have this? How long did it take to resolve? It’s really getting to him. I think he feels depressed and so weak after not eating. Now he’s really not eating that much but some, certainly not enough to gain strength yet. Help me feel positive here!

    Thanks,

    Janet

I had this and was in the hospital for 12 days. Felt like I was on death’s door. Mine wound up being a bad kink where they stapled my intestine back together. It took three subsequent hospital stays for intestinal blockages and a lot of pain before they figured out it was a kink. Got it fixed a couple of years ago and things have been great since. He needs to walk and walk and walk. Have him get checked out for a kink.

    Best of luck to him!
    Mike
