  • Husband has been fighting BC for almost twelve years

I haven’t written in here for a long time, but I just wanted everyone to know there is hope for many years of living with this horrible disease. It has been almost 12 years since he was first diagnosed. These 12 years have had many ups and downs of the CIS showing up one time and gone the next. He has been on six month cystos for the last two years. He had one done the other day and it was clear again!! What a blessing. Now he doesn’t go back for one year. This has happened once before and when he went back after one year it had returned, but it we have hopes that it won’t return next year when he goes back. We are just thankful for the time we have. Blessings to everyone out there, both caretakers and patients. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be thankful for the time you have.

That’s great news for you guys and for the rest of us hoping for similar good outcomes. I am done BCG and into the cysto’s every three months. I go back in early January. I do have one minor issue that I’ll write about on open forum.

    08/16/16 – TURBT – 1 tumor, T1HG, 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 1.8 cm, non-invasive papillary.
BCG treatments (15 doses total – last March, 2018). As of latest cysto on June 30, 2024, cancer free!

Best of luck with your journey. All I can say is my husband has never missed his three month checkups and has done everything the doctors has requested. Our urologist says this is the reason he is where he is today.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Very happy to hear that the latest has come back clear!

This is very encouraging, especially for someone like myself just starting on this journey. Thank you for sharing.

As newly diagnosed Ta-CIS at age 64, I am highly encouraged, and appreciate hearing of this, and I know of four other men who can comment positively on the same success. Any such success is just so fantastic to hear. Two of the men I talk to are daily drinkers of a probiotic supplement. According to the Urology Care Foundation some decent evidence exists that it can help in reducing the reoccurrance of non-invasive bladder cancer.
Needless to say again, (though I will), thank you for sharing such positive news!

Diana that is a tough question. In 12 years he has had it all it seems. The most current was two and a half years ago having a turbst followed by BCG treatments. He’s had that done several times in twelve years.

It’s certainly an up and down life we lead with this disease but we enjoy every day we have and are thankful it hasn’t gone any further yet.

God bless you and your family. It’s an up and down hill all the way. Keep your faith.

    Hello mtgirl,

Glad to hear your husband is doing well.

I wonder what treatments he has had, such as TURBT resection + BCG or just BCG?

My husband just diagnosed to have non-invasive CIS, and we hope to know if TURBT resection prior BCG is better than BCG alone.

    Thanks,

    Diana
