ROBM
wELL YOUR JUMPING RIGHT TO METASTISIS. Slow down its just started, if your this worried now later you’ll be a basket case. Don’t even go to the metastisis thing, you seem to have jumped to the worst case scenario skipping all the maybe its not bad so part. I hope a tiny bit of xanex helps, your going to be okay with the help of a good urologist and surgeon if need be. Wait for the turb, exrays and some good advise from the Doctor. Don’t go bonkers on us,,,Ginger -

Ron,
I remember spending time in the fetal position when I got my pathology back. Being diagnosed with bladder cancer was the most terrifying things that ever happened to me. I still wonder at the fact that I got myself together to get the treatment I needed; I was so possessed with cancer. And the time while you are waiting for you pathology to come back is agonizing. As Grandma would have said you are neither beast nor fowl. You might be getting ready to deal with a chronic situation such as diabetes or high blood pressure or you are in for the fight of your life or somewhere in between. Now looking back four years and dealing with blc survivors daily I know that the chaotic cancer mind seizure period after dx is very normal. Get something for anxiety if need be, if there is ever a time for it this is it. Be careful of using more than you have to as some people wonder into addiction from the stress. I also went for therapy for a while. Many of us find that our loved ones want to buck us up and we go along with them. But that does not leave us anyone to speak to; being able to say what you are thinking out loud without upsetting someone you care about is invaluable. And seeking support such as this site is a very good idea also. You are going to be on an emotional rollercoaster right now but once treatment ends and for most even before it will get better. You are still in the shock phase, give it time.CancerCare is a very good site for support and all of their services are free; they do on line counseling.

But believe this no matter what your diagnosis is I can introduce you to long term survivor with the same alive and kicking. You are not a statistic there is hope and you are hedging your bets, I know this because you are here and want to learn what you need to know to handle this thing.
Also know we are here for you and will walk the path with you. Here come’s another Grandma-isum “Do not buy trouble and pay interest on it”. Until you get your pathology back there is no way to know what you are dealing with. But you and I know until then the fact that anything is possible will devil you. Try to do things you like, be nice to yourself and others, cut yourself some slack. If you love to fish or something plan to do so. In other words be kind to yourself, doing things you like may not make it go away but it is more bearable and the time goes faster. Keep us updated.
Chin up and straight forward

President American Bladder Cancer SocietyGuestJune 26, 2008 at 9:59 pmPat’s right you need to calm down and focus on being positive. There are many tests to see if the cancer has spread. Get the Tur first. Then I had a Ct Scan of my abdomen and pelvis, an MRI of my abdomen and pelvis, a chest xray, and a MRI of my liver because they saw lesions which is common with age and that’s all they were, and lastly a bone scan. Sure waiting for all these results sometimes I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest so I took some Valium. But after all was said and done I just celebrated my first year being cancer free. What lies ahead I don’t know but right now I get to see the sun up come everyday and I am grateful for that. Just take one test at time and focus positive and live one day at a time. Joe ;)
Hi Rob,
I’m not an expert by any means, we’re just new to BC too but as far as I know, when my dad had a cysto the doc was able to tell there was a growth in his bladder, he could tell the size and the location etc but that was about it until he did the Turb!! I dont think the doc can tell exactly what they are dealing with until the turb and more so when the biopsy results come back!!
As was mentioned above, the waiting is awful but try not to stress too much, you’ll need your energy and worrying (I know this is easier said than done!) is a waste of energy because it won’t change anything!!Hopefully you’ll get good results from your Turb next week! I’ll be thinking of you!
GuestJune 26, 2008 at 6:31 pmantidepressant takes to long to kick in…you’re anxious…ask for lorazepam or Xanex to calm you down…….but i’d be a nervous wreck with Dr. Charm also….but since his business has doubled with all you Virginia Slim Independent Females maybe he knows how to do this since he’s had so much practice.
thanks rosemary — turb on monday – believe me i’ve been trying to slow down since last wenesday — rob
Rob,
Fill me in again. Have you had your TURB yet? Do you know your Stage and Grade?
Try and slow your brain down a little. I know it’s hard. The waiting is always the hardest part of this…..Take care,
Rosemary
