  • Happy New Year!!!!!

Posted by Cynthia on December 31, 2009 at 2:10 pm

A new year, a new decade and a blue moon, if I were superstitious I would say it was the start of something big. I woke up this morning feeling excited by the thought of a new beginning. I confess I am an optimist; I am one of those people that cannot stand to wait to open a gift, who knows what it might contain? And a day is the same way, they might contain something you would rather return but what if it holds something wonderful? And I am feeling the same way about this coming decade, what wonders will it hold for us, what surprises?

Years ago I had a girlfriend who had a tradition that you should make a wish for what you wanted in the coming year at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Now the adult in me knows that wishes do not come true, but the little girl who wanted to grow up to be Tinkerbell must still live in me because at midnight tonight I will make my wish as I always do.

This is my wish….May I see another New Year’s Eve to spend with loved ones, may all who are in need find peace and healing and may this be the year the American Bladder Cancer Society is no longer needed.

I wish you all hope, joy, healing, and peace. And may all your checkups be good ones!

    Happy New Years!!!!

Thanks, I am actually going up to snow shoe in two weeks, I hope to get a little skiing in near the end of February and March. I won’t miss this year at all. My abdominals are actually doing pretty good. Of course, I used to do 50-75 sit-ups every day before the RC. I have not yet gotten back to that but plan on doing a few sit-ups next week to get back into the routine.

    Regards
    Rudy

Hi Rudy, Anyone that has a skiing steak that long is not going to let a little old rc operation get in their way ! I will be cheering you on. I had a hysterectomy and was surprised at how much it affected my stomach muscles, but I am a determined person. If you get on ” Wisp ski resort” in maryland you will see where I ski. So far this year we have gotten 79 inches of snow ,but it has been in the single digets, very cold with the wind chill.
My son used to work at Alta ski resort in Utah. he got out of the Navy (he served on a submarine) and headed west . He was sick of living in Georgia and not getting to ski.He is one of the guys that likes to jump off cliffs. He moved back here to Maryland to get married but I wouldn’t be surprised if he move back out west. You guys live in beautiful country.
The good thing about out there is you have alot of snow for along time so I can see you getting to the point where you won’t miss year 23 !! Rocky

Rocky, yes I am a skier… have been skiing most of my adult life. Actually moved from NY to Colorado when I retired and ski all the time. I first lived up by Vail but moved to the front range in 2001. I will miss much of this season however because of RC. But I am confindent I will ski on or before March of this year. I have to ski at least one day to keep my streak going. I’ve not missed a year since I was 22 years old. Skiing is a family affair for us we usually go up every other weekend for 2 days or more and then for a week in January and another in March.

I hope you get some good snow and may the wind be at your back, watch out for the “bumps” (which I don’t do too much of anymore).

I was mortified when at the age of 5 my friend told me that Santa wasn’t real. My dad confirmed it, but I was not ready to give up on the magic.
Even now I still believe that there will be ONE gift under the tree that no one knows about. No one says “I got you that one” It is really a mystery as to who put it there. It is also the PERFECT gift. You didn’t ask for it, you didn’t even know you wanted it. It was just perfect, …. perfectly perfect!
As you opened it, you knew that Santa really exists, even now.

So, from my heart to yours. I wish everyone a great new year. And may you receive that Gift, that perfect gift, that you never knew you could ask for. I certainly think all of you deserve THE GIFT this year. Just remember, it May Not come in a box, or in a card. It may just be something you find at the darkest time that gets you through.

My new Years wish is for real peace, health and comfort in ones own self.

    With love
    George

    Cynthia–

What a great New Year’s wish — It almost sounds as though one could make a song of “and may all your checkups be good ones.” Any musicians out there?

And Happy New Year to all. We expect to usher in 2010 in Maine with a big snowstorm Saturday-Sunday (some reports suggested up to 2 ft., but that’s been downgraded to maybe a foot). time to settle in with good food and a good book.
