hi just wanted to let you know i hav been in hospital finally
and had my ureter checked out
the reason for this was an inconclusive ct scan i had
    my news was really good
there was no tumor in ureter it had a kink in it so they stretched it and also checked out my 1 remaining kidney
when i woke i had 2 catheters in one draining kidney and the other on my bladder
it said on my notes that ihad had a ROYAL FLUSH
my uro came and gave me fantastic news that i was clear with no evidence of disease
shortly after my good news i was in a lot of pain
apparently this was normal after the procedure i had
    they called it kidney colic
the kidney was reaccting to the catheter
quite scary there was a lot of blood in my catheters
but after an overnite stay i was free to go home
back for cyto in 3 months
time to chill ……. for now anyway x

Don’t know many details David, but apparently Zack had a recurrence in the form of metastases and didn’t respond to treatment.

i ended up with a catheter in both the bladder and the kidney over night

I saw that Rosemary was online yesterday so I think she is reading some of he forum posts. We don’t hear much from her. You could write her private message.

Hi Warren, good to see you are still there (as long as you are doing well healthwise, that is). I’ve been clear (except for the positive FISH tests and some residual inflammation and displasia) for going on two years. I appreciate your answering Suzy’s question about FISH. I am guessing that my Uro will recommend the Retrograde Pylogram next, rather than another TURB since the last two or three TURB’s didn’t yield any positive biopsy results. Have you heard anything from Rosemary lately?

    Dear David:
At one point my urologist was considering taking a closer look at my ureters because of some abnormality of the orifice. He had wanted to a retrograde pyelogram, a test where x-rays are taken of the kidneys and ureters after putting a dye directly into the ureter. It can be done at the time of a cystoscopy. My urologist said it has to be done under anesthesia because it will cause spasms, I think of the ureters. I never ended up having the test, but you might ask about it.

Suzy: Fish test is a test for markers for bladder cancer which can be done on the same type of specimen as your regular cytology. Ask your urologist if he has done one.
David: Haven’t seen you for a long time. Overall, how are you doing?

    Suzy,

I am David and I’ve had a bunch (6) of TURBT’s and one instance of CIS several years ago. I’ve been clear of CIS or Papillary tumors for a couple of years but have had several positive FISH tests — but all cytology has been negative. The doc has speculated that the problem could be “upstream”, i.e.: the ureters. You had said you had a scan that was inconclusive. Had you had any FISH tests that were positive?
