  • Got my CT scan results

Posted by hootie_9 on January 4, 2007 at 10:30 pm

and I’m still worried! First off the scan ordered was without contrast.. are CT scans without contrast still good for detecting bladder tumours? Anyways the CT only showed a few small stones and what worried me was that the doctor said he didn’t think the stones were big enough to be causing me much pain and they didn’t see a stone in my bladder which is where all my pain is. so I had this CT without contrast, the ultrasound and the cytology and no sign of cancer yet but I’m probably more worried than ever especially with this excruciating pain while I urinate. I see my urologist again in 20 days. Any opinions? thanks

    Pat,

Thanks for sharing that tidbit of homeopathic information!  Until I got my cancer, I was just very healthy and happy and taking care of myself by avoiding doctors and drinking my teas. Those days are gone forever, but it is nice to hear that other people still get results from homeopathy.

    Thanks,
    Rosemary

Hootie……just talked to a friend of mine who suffered for years of painful urination and diagnosed with interstitial cystitis…….she finally went to a homeopathic doctor and believe it or not a regimen of marshmallow root tea has made it all go away!!….I’ve never heard of that but hey whatever works. Hootie you might want to checkout this link. I think the burning you have you might find some good info in one of the topics in this link. Good Luck, Joe

Listen to Wendy….and get rid of your urologist…20 days!!!…….I had absolutely NO pain with my cancer…..first symptom i had was gross hemotura….a clot as big as my fist…..cancer is a sneaky little disease that doesn’t cause pain until its where it shouldn’t be……..it really does sound like Interstital Cystitis (sp? sorry Wendy)…..Pat

Geezo! Get the cysto already, what is he waiting for?? I hope your uro is a good specialist because the bladder is a very complicated organ that can get complicated problems, chronic pain being one of them. Interstitial cystitis mostly hits women, but men are not immune, and this condition is VERY painful…so much so that cystectomy/bladder removal is actually one of the treatments people get for it! A cysto will show it.

No, I don’t think we’ve had people either from the forum or the private email group that has had this kind of awful, chronic pain you describe.

I hope you find some relief soon, it must be very intrusive in your life…
    Good luck with things Hootie.

Hey Wendy, thanks for the message. The uro didn’t offer much advice other than he thinks I should have a cystoscopy. I know it’s possible it could be the stones although he said it’s pretty untypical pain I’m experiencing for that. I’ve had so many tests so far that I guess the logical thing is to just do the best test once and for all. Over the past few months I’ve had two ultrasounds, two kub’s, a ct scan, cytology, dozens of urine tests, blood tests and some very uncomfortable physical tests that I don’t care to mention. I’m getting sick of all these tests!! After the cystoscopy is done that’s it for me. Did anyone on this forum get severe constant bladder pain? thanks

Hootie, have you looked at the site Rosemary referenced? I think it’s way more likely you have one of the many different bladder conditions that can cause chronic pain. I don’t think it’s bladder cancer, but I do think you have a serious condition that needs some kind of treatment, if possible.

What does the uro say now about the state of things?

    Hootie,

You must have a heavy concentrate of ACID urine. DRINK LOTS OF GOOD WATER and do some quiet meditation. Your burning will subside as well your imaginary dis-ease.

    Hootie,

I’m just throwin this out to you for you to think about.

Painful Bladder Syndrome / Interstitial Cystitis (PBS/IC)

The name Painful Bladder Syndrome was introduced in 2002 by the International Continence Society (ICS) which defines it as “suprapubic pain related to bladder filling, accompanied by other symptoms such as increased daytime and night-time frequency in the absence of infection or other pathology”. The ICS reserves the term Interstitial Cystitis for “PBS with “typical cystoscopic and histological features”.
