  • Good Checkup: Going On 7 Years

Posted by CatherineH on October 29, 2016 at 2:18 am

My annual checkups have ended up being in October and I recently went back to Vanderbilt for my yearly cysto and this year, an MRI instead of CT scan. I am very happy to report that the cysto was all clear, and my MRI report came back the next day with no signs of cancer.

This coming February will mark seven years of being cancer free following my partial cystectomy on February 25, 2010. This forum has played a big part in my mental and emotional recovery, so thanks for everyone’s support.

One thing I found interesting was that I was not given the usual antibiotic before my cysto this time. The nurse said the hospital was trying to better address the antibiotic resistance issue. She asked several questions about recent infections, antibiotic use, or immune system issues in deciding I didn’t need to take one. I was happy to see that they do review and update their procedures from time to time.

    Here’s to another good year!

    Best wishes… Catherine
