I also heard an interview on NPR this AM concerning the testing of BCG as it is related to Cov-19. They also mentioned it in relation to diabetes, something about a genetic affect?? Testing various strains of BCG.
I recently had my 6mo Cysto a couple of months ago and am still waiting on availability of BCG to get my maintenance treatments. It took about 3 months last time so fingers crossed. I have had 21 total treatments so far but my Urologists said he wanted to continue with the maintenance treatments as long as I could tolerate it. I had only a few side effects until my #21st treatment and then a lot of burning – it took me about 5 months to get over.
As I watched on the screen as he performed the Cysto and he showed me 2 small spots where the BCG had recently worked on some recurrent CIS (scar tissue).
Like everyone I hope this leads to an increase in production and doesn’t affect us Bladder Cancer patients who depend on it.
Peace and Love! Stay Safe!
08/16 Blood in Urine;09/16 CT Scan, RPG, Cysto;10/16 TURBT;12/08 BL TURBT;01/17 6X BCG;05/17 NED, 3X BCG, 9/17 NED, 3X BCG,1/18 NED, 3X BCG,7/18 NED, 3X BCGYes, and studies are also going on in Australia. Theory being that it will “ kick up “ the immune system. Sound familiar?
While on one hand I hope that it works, on the other it might make our recent shortages worse. Or maybe it would get production ramped up.
In any event I will be surprised if this is the solution to the pandemic.
