Good Afternoon need some help. Last week(Dec 5th) I peed blood three times during the day. Picture attached. Since then I have been fine, no pain no discomfort. Today I went to the doc for a separate ailment and mentioned the episode so I got a urinalysis for blood. About two hours later they called me saying I had a very high amount of RBC (158) and the range is 0-4. So tomorrow I’m going in for a CT scan. Im a 29 y/o male, no symptoms. What do you think? The doc mentioned they were looking for bladder cancer tomorrow.

    tibtrevino,

First, you have a doc who is on top of things. That is good news.

Second, lots of things can cause blood in urine. By the numbers, without symptoms, the chance of cancer small. BUT, if it is bladder cancer, and it is found early, treatment is highly effective, so you do want to check for cancer right away.

The CT Scan is a starting point, as is a cystoscopy (a look inside the bladder), and cytology (pathology of the urine for cancer cells). You will want a full workup leading to an answer, where did the blood come from and why.You may need to be followed for a while, with regular checks, if nothing is found.

I think you are lucky and smart – you talked to your doc and put a rush on finding the cause.

Let us know what you find out.

    Best
    Jack
