I know I am posting like crazy, clearly my anxiety is through the roof. Also I am a lawyer that deals with a LOT of cancer patients who are terminally ill (does not make my anxiety better).

Now that my father’s cancer is upstaged from non-invasive to invasive (Invasive to Lamina Propria and NOT into the Muscle), I am reading the chances for T1- increase the likelihood that cancer will metastasize into bloodstream.

Has anyone experienced this? Dr. did not do a biopsy of the lymph nodes but said the CT scan performed one month ago showed no lymphatic invasion. My understanding is a biopsy- not a CT scan would show this.

Also, what are survival rates for stage one, non-muscle invasive cancer of HG Papillary with in situ residual with invasion. At first I thought, survival rate for Stage 1, is still good but based on other literature I am reading it appear grim.

There are obviously no guarantees in life but I am just figuring out what I need to be prepared for, if this is going downhill from here.

Without re=reading prior threads I believe you have a misunderstanding of the stages. Stage 0 and 1 are just starting and have NOT invaded the muscle. Stage 2 is into the muscle, stage 3 is toward the final layers of the bladder and stage 4 means it has escaped and is very serious. While they are all serious the prognosis is very good at stage 0 and 1 and 2 if a cystectomy is done still often has very good results. With your post saying not into the muscle BCG is usually a very good immunotherapy treatment with very good results. Check the topics and other areas on staging and treatments. For all of us fighting cancer including life itself it is one day at a time.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.
